The GP38 series was built between January of 1966 and December of 1987, weighs 250,000 lbs and uses a 645E 16 cylinder diesel prime mover that develops 2000 hp, and 61,000 lb of tractive effort, and carries 1700 gallons of fuel. My thanks to The Diesel Shop for the information.
